201 Maxi Pole Pruning System

This Pruning System enables 4-way tree pruner usage: 1 and 2 - Use the short pole with either the Ratchet Pole Pruner Head or the Saw Head as a tree pruner within 3 feet overhead. This will also work as a pruner in dense underbrush. 3 and 4 - Use the long pole with either the Ratchet Pole Pruner Head or the Saw Head as a pruner up to 18-20 feet overhead. With power and ease, this pruner tool makes pruning effortless and controllable. A conventional tree pruning tool requires a lot of strength to cut in one stroke, even for branches smaller than 1". Utilizing our patented Ratchet-Cut mechanism, our Maxi Pole Pruner System cuts up to a full 2" in diameter with amazing ease. Weighing only 7 lbs. this pruner tool can extend up to 14 feet beyond your reach. Without a ladder, the average person can now prune a limb 18-20 feet high. Here's how this pruning system works! Start the cut with a down pull on the rope handle, continue the cut by raising the rope handle only enough to engage next tooth. Repeat action until cut is complete.

  • 4 tools in 1

  • Cuts branches up to a full 2" in diameter

Bought this in 2009. The concept of a ratchet driven pole pruner is great. The engineering of this tool is average(-). The telescoping pole was not capable of holding it's setting because of an engineering design flaw in the adjusting collar. You'd be cutting a branch higher than 12 feet and the adjusting collar would slip (allowing the pole to lengthen. That diminishes your ability to manipulate the blade and ratchet). If you can't control the pole, the blade is in jeopardy of damage. The reason being .... your ratchet is now 15 feet up and you can't access it. Should you have a need to work the pole back and forth to free the blade, the pole slips and extends further which compromises your leverage.
My blade became bent as a result of the above. I contacted customer service which I found to be testy and barely helpful. They did however send me a repair kit to change the collar. I had to send back the ratchet head to have the blade replaced. Again, a lack luster interaction with customer service. Those folks must not be observed on their customer interactions. In the end, they repaired the damaged blade at no cost to me.
Oh yeah, the tool is heavy. As with any tool ... lift it 10 feet or higher above your head and it becomes even heavier. It's also expensive. I don't mind paying top dollar but my expectations become lofty when I do. This tool fell short of my expectations.
Check out a Dorcy pole pruner as an option. It's not as mechanically advanced as the Florian but it gets the job done. It's available via many retailers for a fraction of the cost.

An awkward device. No clear instructions. Tried a fairly high branch(the intended goal) then was unable to re-telescope the two sections of pole. No online help. No online instructions. Poorly engineered.
