The Agri-Fab 175-pound tow broadcast spreader cuts down on the number of passes necessary to fully cover your lawn. This spreader provides a spread width of 10-to-12-feet. A 175-pound capacity covers approximately 40,000-square-feet. The random distribution pattern reduces over-fertilizing and under-fertilizing. The spreader is towed on two 15-by-6-inch pneumatic turf tread tires with 3/4-inch diameter axles and ball bearings. The tow model features a heat-treated steel gear drive type. The spreader easily attaches to lawn and garden tractors or ATVs with a pin type rear hitch. It is equipped with a pull pin for free-wheeling, speedy transport, a raised flow control handle accessible from the ATV seat, and a vinyl cover. This tow broadcast spreader comes with Agri-Fab's 1-year limited warranty.

Reasonably put together except for the lousy gate mechanism. Just as others have said this thing only opens and closes when the unit is empty. Put any material in it and you have a gate that is stuck open with material pouring out. This unit was simply not tested in development, there is no way anyone who used this thing would approve it for mass distribution.

Solidly built except for the Gate machanism. It jams constantely. Very POOR design of this item.
Otherwise, it would be a great spreader.

Knowing and owning other Agri-Fab products, I'm very surprised that they come out with shuch a lousy mechanism for the opening gate.

If it wasn't for that (it makes it a very expensive conversation piece, good only as a yard ornament) I would give it a five star rating

I PURCHASED THE AGRI-FAB 175# ATV PULL BEHIND SPREADER EVEN THOUGH I HAD READ A BAD REVIEW ABOUT THE GATE MECHANISM. IT WAS EASY TO ASSEMBLE AND ADJUST. GATE MECHANISM FAILED TO WORK PROPERLY THE FIRST TIME I USED IT. THE GATE WOULD NOT OPEN. I CONTACTED THE COMPANY. THEY SUGGESTED ADJUSTMENTS. I HAD IT ASSEMBLED CORRECTLY . IT NEEDED NONE. THEY SUGGESTED SPRAY LUBE/GRAPHITE. I RETURNED FOR REFUND. DO NOT PURCHASE THE ATV MODEL. THE GATE MECHANISM ROD DOES NOT OPEN THE GATE. OTHER MODELS HAVE A DIFFERENT SET-UP AND WORK OK.

The spreader works great, until you have to close the hopper. The slide rails get clogged and the slide won't close, then when you manually push the slide close, it won't open correctly. I called tech support and they said to spray it with Pledge, done that, doesn't work.

Have used this "tow-behind" spreader three times now and have nothing but praise for it. Solidly made and adequately braced for the weight it is capable of handling. A well designed, wide enough stance on generously sized tires to prevent tip-overs even when going across steep grades. I use it behind our John Deere lawn tractor which is one of the 4 wheel-steer models which turns very sharp and the spreader tow bar is long enough to prevent contact with the rear of the tractor on the sharpest turns yet the on/off handle is still operator accessible while driving. The on/off handle is a direct mechanical connection to the drop gate on the bottom of the material hopper so it always functions unlike the poorly designed cable connectors you encounter on many other spreaders that give you headaches.
