3Basic onion hoe  Feb 26, 2008
By Dr Mike
Typical Chinese quality hoe. Not as good as they were made in the past in the US, but it looks like it should last a couple of seasons if you keep it from getting wet and resist the urge to chop on hard clay soil with it. The weak spot is going to be the wood at the ferrule. Most of the garden tools I get these days only last a couple years and the wood invariable breaks at the ferrule.

It comes unsharpened, so you will need a grinder or file to dress the edges. This will take you up to a half hour or more if all you have is a flat file, but about 10 minutes if you have a grinder to rough cut in the edge and then dress it with a file.

3the coating makes the hoe dull  Apr 03, 2012
By judy mellen
i was hoping this would be as good as the one i bought years ago. that one you can sharpen because it isn't coated with paint. that makes the blade dull on all ends. too bad i will have to take a rasp to it and try to get it off to sharpen.

I found this hoe to be a very good and solid. I have used it several times and it works quite well.
