 The Best Hose Reel Available Aug 29, 2010
I have had one of these hose reels for at least 10 years. When it wore out from use, I wanted to get another one that was just like it. Amazon.com was the best price going and I got my order in just a couple of days. I think it is the best hose reel you can buy.

I tried several costly and supposedly good hose reels from different stores. They either didn't stand up to the constant use or were just difficult to use. I have a big house with five different hose locations. I then noticed that the one hose I enjoyed using was the only one to survive the hurricane, and was still working properly. I was trying to find one locally that worked just as good instead of looking on the assembly, getting the name, and ordering the one that had proven itself. I kicked my self for not thinking of ordering one before, I would have saved myself a bit of money and aggravation. But, still being the skeptic, I only ordered two. Easy assembly, superb performance when installed, and a reasonable price equates to an excellent product. It's nice when something performs as advertised. Now I have to go back and order two more, there's no need to replace the original. I'm glad shipping is free.
 It's Got Some Issues Jul 19, 2010
Ordered this to replace what I thought was the exact same thing. The original lasted for twenty years. The one that arrived had issues. The first thing I noticed was they changed the design slightly. Unfortunately, they didn't update the instructions. Once I figured it out, I completed half the assembly and came to a show-stopper. They had included TWO right-side frames instead of one right and one left. When I called Ames customer service on Monday (they aren't open on the weekend), the person I talked to was very understanding and told me they would ship out a left-side frame at no cost to me. Here is the big issue... He said it would take TWO or THREE weeks!!! I would have been better off returning the original and ordering a replacement. Of course with my luck, the replacement would have arrived with two LEFT-side frames. What ever happened to customer service and quality control? (Before you assume "Made in China", the package says "Made in USA".)
UPDATE: When the replacement left-side frame arrived after more than a week, it was MISSING a piece. I had to call Ames again to request the last missing piece. After another week of waiting, I finally had all the pieces and could assemble the hose reel at last.

This item was never delivered to me and since I had to rate it, I gave it 1 star. I ordered it to be shipped to my office where we receive daily UPS delivery. No attempt was made by UPS to deliver this item and since we know our drivers personally, I'm assuming that our driver never had the item in his truck.
I sent 2 emails to Amazon customer service to try to find out what the problem was, but I have received no response from them. I'm VERY disappointed in Amazon and it's sales partners. As for the hose reel, it's great. We have another one just like it, hence the additional purchase. Guess I'll try to purchase another one from another company but I won't make the mistake of ordering from Amazon again.

I owned one. Cheap plastic construction, flimsy, fell apart with use, threw it away.
