Good Axe for double-bit Jan 04, 2010
By L-C
"Larry C."
Not sure about another review, axe heads were cast for thousands of years - forging is a relatively new art to axes - might recommend to that customer to learn how to sharpen an axe.
This axe is light, swings well, and if well maintained, will hold an edge. Weight, handle and balance are important on a double-bit, assuming you are really working the axe, and this one works. The hickory handle gives you rigid control, while the head is, I am guessing, 16-18 ounces - so it is fluid in the swing. If you can bring the edge to about a 30-degree edge with a machinist's file, it will cut paper - let alone a long on a full swing.
I gave it a 4 instead of a 5, because it is about 4-1/2" blade length...they should have arc'd the top of the axe a small amount to give it a 5-1/2 - 6" blade surface, to reduce the work while keeping the weight light - but it is still a good axe.

Great Sharp Axe Mar 30, 2008
By Hal
"Sarmapper"
I have used this Axe for over a year chopping oak and other hardwood. The blades are still sharp and the handle is excellent. It is heavy enough for splitting hard logs and it is well balanced and the handle does not transmit shock to your hands. In short, its a great Axe.
Update (2-1-2012): I have used this Axe for nearly five years now to chop oak logs. The blade is still sharp and the handle is still in great shape. You can't go wrong with it.

Pretty much as expected Jun 01, 2010
By Dustin L. Taylor The steel for the axe is good quality and the hickory handle works just fine. A must for this axe is to sharpen it once you receive it though or you'll spend way to long trying to chop through... pretty much anything.
wood handled 2 bit michigan axe Jan 09, 2012
By carole b. It arrived quickly but, the wooden handle was split! I feel that the quality control area was not working that day for sure. I then returned it due to the split handle and purchased a fiberglass handled 2 bit michigan axe instead! I really think if the wooden handle had not been split, i'd have kept the first one.

double axe head Jun 13, 2011
By Catchalittle Took me awhile to get a edge on this with both the grinder and a file the head could be a bit heavier for the thickness of the handle, the handle is good quality I have fitted a handle guard below the head, which could have been done not a bad price for what I got and Im sure it will do what it was meant to and should survive my wood cutting backyard tasks.
