GOOD RAKE WHICH IS USEFUL IN MEDITATION Feb 20, 2012
By D. Blankenship My wife is a somewhat fanatical and obsessive gardener...loves her flowers and veggies, she does! Now I like flowers; actually I love them and I most certainly do not turn my nose up at the great stuff she produces in her gardens each year when it comes to eating. My problem is that I am one of those individuals who is not overly fond of gardening...actually, any sort of yard work, truth be told.
But, as chance would have it, and as strange as it may seem, our five acres, lawn, garden, orchard, pens, etc. do require a lot of upkeep and work. Now of all the garden and yard chores I am forced into each year, raking is probably my favorite, with raking and smoothing my wife's garden leading the list. There is something sort of Zen like about creating a nicely raked garden or clearing out a flower bed or maintain a rose garden...I like it. I can completely zone out while raking, which is actually not all that much different from my natural state, but in the case of raking there are few people, other than to dogs, who are use to me, to notice.
The rake being reviewed here is truly a dandy rake. I will tell you right now that I did not buy this rake via Amazon which fills me with chagrin as I paid well over double the asking price for the same rake at a local retail store. There is a lesson to be learned there and I will share it with you as soon as I figure it out.
Anyway, this is a strong rake and my goodness I love the fiberglass handles. As those that know me will quickly tell you, I am rather absent minded at times. This should not be confused with lazy - no, no, no! I simply tend to drop tools where I am using them and then simply forget where I dropped them. I have lost tools all over our place. If my home place here ever turns into an archeological dig a few hundred years from now, I have no doubt that this will be a gold mine and send vast groups of graduate students well on their way to receive their PhDs. Sorry...I digress....
The reason I like the fiberglass handle is that it does not rot the way wooden handled tools do. This puppy can spend the entire summer, fall and winter buried in high grass and still be quite functional when I finally stumble over it by accident. It saves me a lot of money in not having to buy replacement rakes each spring. This is good.
The rake is heavy duty but not too heavy to be a pain to use. It is great for smoothing out the garden, cleaning leaves out around our shrubs and raking the ravel back on our driveway after is washes off after every rain storm.
I can most certainly vouch for this one.

Excellent Product Jul 31, 2010

good basic sturdy rake with sound attachment of handle to working end. A little heavier than wooden handled rake, but I wont have to tung oil it every winter to keep handle smooth and prevent splitting.

Very Nice Rake May 18, 2009

This rake has been used heavily for about three weeks and has held up and worked out very well for me. It's lightweight and not overly long which allows it to fit easily into my Rubbermaid outdoor storage cabinet. The bright red of the handle has saved me many minutes of searching, even with bad vision I can still find it. I say it's a good deal, a lot of rake for a little money!
Well Made True Temper Eagle Bow Rake Apr 24, 2012
By Rosemarie C. This rake by Ames does the job of cleaning up. It is well constructed and not too clumbsy to use. It suits what I need it for and at an affordable price.

By GFT21710 I don't know what to say here other than this is a rake. It has a red handle. It seems like good quality. It has work attached.
