5My favorite rake  Feb 24, 2012
By R. Smaus
Contractors may call me a wuss, but this long handled flat rake is perfect for garden use - light weight but very strong, used for evening out soil, raking out clods and rocks and preparing seed beds. You can use the flat side for breaking up those clods and the back of the rake for leveling. Try to find one at a hardware store; they only carry bow rakes and flimsy ones at that. I was pleased to find someone who still sold single piece, forged (no welds to break) flat rakes. Get one before they're gone forever!
OK, yeah, I have a heavy duty bow rake with a fiberglass handle for raking the gravel paths and the driveway and one or two other tough jobs but it weighs a ton and the welds do break. When I go into the tool shed, the Kodiaks (one short handle and one long) are what I grab.
