My only regret is not getting this one first May 07, 2010
By K. Robertson If you're thinking of buying aluminum because it's cheaper, think again. This stainless steel pot will last longer, be MUCH easier to clean and will not retain seafood odor, nor will aluminum leach into your food.
The included basket fits like a glove (unlike my King Kooker aluminum pot, which sold the basket separately), and can also function as a steamer. The rack fits right into the basket for easy storage. I only regret that I bought the other pot first because it was cheaper, but certainly not a better value!

Good Quality; Low on Features for the Price Nov 25, 2007
By Handy Man88
"Handy Man"
I bought the Stainless Steel fry pot because SS is a better conductor, stronger metal compared to Aluminum, and cleans better. But, there's a heckuva price premium. I found the pot to be very sturdy and great quality, but three things bothered me somewhat:
1) The thermometer clip that comes with that pot is poorly designed. Once the thermometer is inserted on the lip of the pot, it direct the thermometer at an angle towards the center of the pot. Sure, the temperature reading is more accurate at the center, but this makes it difficult to remove the bird without first pushing the thermometer tip to the side of the pot. You'd rather not try to remove the thermometer as the pot is hot and you could splash the oil.
2) At this price, I would expect some fry baskets, but none were included. Without these, you have to try to fish out small items that you are frying such as fries, mozzarella sticks, etc. It can get hazardous. Prefer not to use the steam basket as a fry basket.
3) I coupled this pot with the BC Single Burner Outdoor Patio Stove, but even with this high BTU burner, it took a little more than 1/3 of my propane tank to heat peanut oil (2/3 full) up to 300F with an outdoor temp of 55F. Thus, with a full propane tank, you might be able to fry one turkey during the fall without changing tanks.
Overall, this pot is better quality than the Aluminum pot, but not really worth the high price, especially since it's not part of a combo pot/burner.

Check your thermometer! Nov 25, 2011
By Mike Stewart Be sure to check your thermometer before your first use. (Run it under warm water to make sure the dial moves.) Mine didn't work! And I can almost promise you that you won't be able to find one on a holiday when all the stores are closed!

Good - but huge! Sep 16, 2011
By Szu My sisters and I bought this for my dad to fry turkeys in. One thing to note is that this frier is HUGE and therefore takes a lot of oil for a certain turkey size. You should make sure you want this size (not a smaller one) based on the type of bird you want to cook. However, the kit is awesome. Being that it is so big it was really easy to ensure that we didn't have any mishaps of overflowing oil, etc. Also this kit worked very, very well on making our Thanksgiving bird and at other times.

Turkey time Dec 01, 2010
By GrueMaster Well, I have been deep frying my turkeys now for 6 years. I have gone through 2 aluminum pots in that time, usually because they developed pinholes in the bottom and they are a real pain to clean. This pot however was a lot easier. Some of the oil boiled over the side (don't believe the instructions on having it completely level, best to have it slope away at a very slight angle away from you - it will boil over a little) and crusted on, as always. (For those that think I had too much oil, know that the le bones stuck out about an inch and the pot when full of oil & turkey had 6 inches clearance from the lip). Due to a hard cold snap, I didn't get to thoroughly clean it until Sunday morning, but it came clean with only a little effort and Dawn. My only complaints about this combo is that the basket and the turkey stand feel very thin and flimsy. Also, when I deep fry a turkey outside, it is often very cold (and usually raining), so I need to keep a lid on the pot. This can not be accomplished and still have the thermometer in the oil to keep the temperature at a constant 350-375f.
Still, not a bad purchase. Might have to get another one just for my beer brewing.
