The industrial designers should be smacked in the head for this one. Jul 11, 2010 The industrial designers should be smacked in the head for this one.
Such potential -
such a screw up from a design standpoint.
1) Cheap self destructing safety handle.
2) Charger connection - just poor.
3) Key slides in both ways - but only works one way.
4) Brushes seem to be a problem - but you can get it to power up if you flick the brushes with a screw driver (insulated screw-driver - be careful)
I like the potential - but Black & Decker should get back to the drawing board. Any CMM1200 buyers deserve an apology and a free trade up.

Disappointed Jul 01, 2010 This item, Black & Decker CMM1200 19-inch-volt cordless mower, was purchased on line and received in May 2009, used to mow a 60' by 80' area weekly until October 2009. Battery did not hold charge during the entire mowing time, or distance.
Proceeded to charge battery for Summer 2010 and battery did not hold charge to allow the lawn to be mowed, battery required replacing.
It is presumed that life of a battery would be longer than one year before requiring replacement.

My Bag Full Sensor Isn't Reliable Jun 23, 2010 Hi All,
My mower and battery are working very well.
We have a pool so the rear bagging is important for us.
The sensor stops the mower long before the bag is full.
Sometimes a few steps after the last empty.....
Any suggestions on how to tune up the sensing system?
Thanks in advance.

Not built to last May 27, 2010 We bought this mower in April of 2007, after about a year, as with all the other reviewers, the cheap plastic on/off switch broke. Luckily, there was one reviewer who suggested drilling a hole in the assembly and replacing the broken plastic switch with a metal bolt. Worked like a charm (why couldn't B&D have done this in the first place?). The mower works great for a medium sized lawn unless you let the grass get too tall. However, we are giving it only one star because it is now May 2010 and the mower has totally stopped working. Charger has a green light, which means the battery is charged, but when the switch is flipped, nothing happens. We brought the mower to a service place listed on the B&D website. Unfortunately, the warranty has run out. We will update this review when we hear back from the service people. If the cost of repair is over $100, we'll probably ditch this thing (since, from reading the other reviews, I'm sure more problems will pop up). No more B&D products for us.
Update: We got the mower back from service ... $130 bill to repair the wire from the switch to the motor. Don't quite remember exactly what the technician said, but something to the effect that the switch malfunctioned and burnt the wire. Working fine now, let's see if it lasts ...
Update 2: Seems to be working great again. I'm upgrading my ratings to 3 stars ... when this mower works, it works great. I noticed that the new wire that connects the on/off switch to the motor was replaced by the service technician with one that is much thicker. Now if only B&D could have designed this mower with higher quality pieces, I would rate it a 5 (since I haven't had any problems with the battery *knock on wood*).

CMM1200 Black&Decker Cordless Lawnmower May 22, 2010 I bought this mower in Sept. 0f 2008. In general I like the mower but it does have some issues. I agree with most of the reviewers that this is somewhat heavier than similar gas mowers. It doesn't cut medium length grass very evenly (it leaves a bit of a ridge on one side) and it has a tough time in taller grass. My primary problem is that today, the plastic post in the handle of the on switch broke, rendering the mower useless. This confirms what many reviewers have said about the switch being the weak link of this mower. I guess I'll have to borrow my neighbor's Toro until it gets fixed. The good news is that it has a two year guarantee and I'm within that period.
