Excellent purchase Feb 11, 2012
By dj88lvr Just moved into our new home and my fiancee wanted garden tools small enough to use between existing trees & shrubs. I bought the trowel, hoe, and rake and definitely would recommend all three. He loves the telescopic handles and couldn't be happier with this affordable purchase. Thanks Amazon!!
Good idea - catch needs improvement Feb 03, 2012
By Wence The concept of a garden trowel with extendable handle is a great idea. However, they need to improve the locking mechanism. It will stay extended for light work, nice loose dirt, but when encountering your usual garden soil it tends to begin to collapse. You have to watch which way you are applying pressure. If you twist it to the left it will loosen.
Not so great at staying extended ... Jan 07, 2012
By brooklynniteowl A nice enough trowel, but every time I extended the handle and "twisted" it to lock it into place ... it wouldn't stay locked; I wouldn't realize this, would push the trowel into the ground, and almost fall over as the handle slid back down to base of the tool! Having bad knees I really wanted a portable trowel that could be used at both of its advertised lengths. However, more than anything I needed it in the extended position. At home I extended it, locked it into place, and used very strong epoxy glue (applied into the seam where the locking mechanism is, as well as all around the outside of said seam) on it ... so now, while it's a little unwieldly to tote around at least I can use it without any further suprises! The rubberized grip at the top of the trowel is handy, especially in damp weather.
Love the telescopic trowel Jul 01, 2011
By Ali Julia I was attracted to the trowel because I recently had back surgery and bending down is a bit problematic for me. The telescopic trowel allows me to continue gardening even with a bad back! The trowel telescopes smoothly, feels light, and has a nice non-slip handle. I am sure it will work great for some with a good back too, but for someone with a bad back it is a way to enjoy an old hobby without feeling any physical limitations!
This is by second gardening product made by Bond. After purchasing a telescoping rake made by Bond Bond LH013 Fan Rake With Telescopic Handle & Non-Slip Grip, I was on the lookout for other gardening tools from the same company as I was pleased with the quality of my rake. Bond products feel sturdy yet light. I had the rake for over a year and it has not rusted, bent, despite the good amount of use.
I am very pleased with my new trowel and would recommend it. Note that Amazon has a much better price than I paid in a local nursery.
