I already have garden clippers but the striking design of this pair caught my eye and I thought I could do with a pair of shears as well. They do look just like the photo, albeit in a much more matte black metal than the deep, almost glossy black they appear to be. They're also quite a bit larger than I envisioned. I expected a pair of small-ish craft clippers for some reason and these are a very good size and weight. That also makes them a bit weighty for extensive clipping or cutting but I don't think most people would use them that way. They are, definitely, just for clipping stems etc and would be awkward and uncomfortable for any sustained cutting (like you would do to cut through a piece of wrapping paper or cutting something out). The handle shape just isn't meant for that so they're definitely not interchangeable like a pair of scissors.
They're solid and well-made, and the cutting blades come well-greased. You will probably have to wipe (not wash!) off the considerable excess oil before using.
Great price for a solid and well-designed product!

Excellent for Bonsai and shaping Japanese Maples Sep 22, 2011

Although they are called floral shears, they are my first choice for Bonsai and shaping my collection of 32 Japanese Maples. The shears are sharp, smooth and well balanced. Excellent quality that will last for years and they are very easy to sharpen. The shears fit into tight spaces and they are great for clean and precise cuts. A great value and the quality far exceeds the price. Highly recommend!

I purchased these shears for trimming roses and other flowers in floral bouquets. I replaced a pair of old, dull shears I've had for probably 20 years. I'm SO impressed with the improvement! These shears are very sharp, have a blade that can be re-sharpened and the handles are comfortable to hold. They are heavier than my old pair, but I found this to be a product of solid steel construction and they are not so heavy as to be hard to handle.

The only thing good about these shears is the actual cutting edge. The handles are so large that they don't fit well in your hand. By no means do I have a small hand. I wear an extra large glove. They are very loose and hard to use.. I definitely would not recommend them to anyone.
