1Broke almost immediately  Sep 17, 2008
By J. M. Dawson "Some call me Corby"
The first time I tried to use this tool with any force, it snapped in half. I'll be returning it for a refund and applying the credit to a solid steel tang hori-hori, like I should have gotten in the first place.

1It is not that good Not full tang in handle  Dec 15, 2008
By Kath "kath"
I like to garden I usually like Fiskars equipment This one is a BIG DISSAPOINTMENT. While digging weeds the handle bent. Under the rubber handle is a thin piece of steel that looks like a wire it maybe has a 1/8 inch diameter. The handle is very cheaply reinforced. Not a full piece of steel of a heavy cylinder welded to the hilt. Just a cheap piece of steel that is way toooooo thin No heft to it. Save your money if you are buying this for weeding or digging.

1Big Disappointment  Sep 16, 2008
By Bonnie J. Jones
On the second pass into the ground to remove a weed the kinfe broke apart at the spot weld which was three tiny welds made to hold the knife blade to the handle. Very poor construction. Only Fiskars tool I've ever had that failed on initial use.Fiskars Big Grip Garden Knife #7079

1Poor quality knife  Jul 15, 2008
By Thomas M. Migliore
I purchased the Fiskars Big Grip Garden Knife through Amazon. It broke the first time I used it. The blade is welded to the handle and the weld broke. The tool was useless after 30 seconds of work. Apparently, it is not a very well made tool. I normally like Fiskars products but this one need a little more design work. I like this type of tool for weeding and garden use and there are several on the market which are better made.

1Another bonehead item from the " we didn't learn our lesson from the auto manufacturers , yet !  Apr 02, 2010
By yipeokia "yipeokia"
I was raised in a family who had farming- type roots on my Mom's side. I loved to play around with all my grandfather's tools- all American made, and indestructable ! Tractor parts over the hill still were used for decades as lawn ornaments ! My point is, that people did not mind paying good money for well- designed tools that didn't just look good on an engineer's laptop, but were well made as well.

This tool from Fiskar's fits the bill on the first part- it is well designed, ergonomic, and colorful- just the thing that appeals to broad demographic that I'm sure this tool was meant to target.

But Fiskars, you need to hear this -" Shame on you " ! This goes for all of the other tool companies, auto makers, electronics manufacturers, etc that need to hear this message - We, the middle class working folk are sick and tired of this crap! Most people who work , know that whether you work as an artist, carpenter, chef, or any other profession ( like all of them ) that require tools, that " you are only as good as your tools quality " !!!!

Most people do not want the Chinese crap, or this tool from Fiskars, ( who usually puts out a good product ). Anyone with half a brain who knows bladed tools, knows that you need a full tang !!! ,, how much more would it have been to add the like 2 inches of 1/4 " tool steel through the handle ,, like 3 cents more ? !

Jesus , people, I'm sorry to ramble, but we need to stop accepting this crap; and start demanding tools that are the quality our forefathers and mothers would have been proud to use. JMHO

Have a great day !
