fiskars chopping axe 24" 7857 Jun 14, 2010
By Bryan R. Culbertson the fiskars chopping axe with the 24 inch overall length ,is a good size and weight axe head ,with a handle you can drive a truck over and not break it in two...it is out of the box razor sharp and has the correct angle that you can see on the blade to sharpen the bit,,,keep it in the plastic axe head cover or make a good leather cover,, till your ready to use it and put the cover back when your through...for a camp axe you can split 4 to 6 in.or bigger soft rounds into smaller pieces fairly easy,,just remember,,the shorter the axe handle,if your gonna split wood, the lower to the ground you need to be,squatting or on your knees in some cases,,,this will keep your shins and the front of your leg from getting hurt..always bring the axe straight down on your target..not where you might swing through if you miss,, you will love this Fiskars Axe,,it's made in Finland,,good steel,,,and the handle is hollow,,you can store fishing line and lures,a pocket knife, small sharpening file,,fire starter ferrosium steel,,etc,,make a plug or duct tape the end and then put this axe in your back pack and head out to the hills,,it is sharp enough to clean a small trout or an elk, your choice,,,A++++++++++AXE...BC

I would call this a Felling AXE Dec 10, 2008
By M. Nezzer They have this listed as a chopping Axe. I would call it a Felling Axe or a Low-weight felling Axe. And it is the best one I have ever used. I purchased this Axe to replace a stolen Stihl felling Axe and I love it. For easy and efficient felling, cutting and limbing it can not be beat and it works nicely for driving felling wedges. At under half the price of a Stihl you would be crazy not to get one. I would suggest buying the Fiskars sharpener with it. It makes keeping the edge on the Axe sharp and pretty much idiot proof.

Good axe Aug 13, 2009

This is a rather good axe and it's nice to use. I used it as a felling axe to clear some paths in the forest.
I used it to replace a very very old steel-head axe with a hickory handle (the head kept coming off and I don't have to tools to hang it again.) Being new it was nice and sharp, didn't get stuck too much. It was a bit shorter than I expected -- my old axe was a 25- or 26-inch, so 24 seemed a tad short whereas 28-inch seemed too long. Going from a hickory handle to synthetic, the feeling is not the same when it hits, it gave a much harsher feeling in my arms. It was also a tad lighter than my old axe. Fine, I had to adjust a bit, I got over it and the result is that I cut some hard old wood faster than before and it was a lot of fun.

best felling axe ever ! Jan 30, 2011
By mz1032 got this little puppy for light tree cutting on a camping trip with my fraternity , ended up being a savior after the guy who brought the chainsaw forgot the oil, they all thought i must've been a lumberjack in my past life because with this axe, it's a breeze. get it you can't be disappointed, with its shorter-than-usual handle, it gives the user more control over the swing, you'll be tempted to cut every tree in sight with the Fiskars blade. rush tke
