Light, Comfortable, Affordable Apr 04, 2002
By Mimi When my sister gave me these snippers, my first reaction was that they were too lightweight to be useful. Was I wrong! I grow a lot of roses, and this tool has become invaluable for deadheading. It's also great for cutting daffodils, tulips and narcissus for floral arrangements. It's light enough for me to carry whenever I walk around the garden. Don't be tempted to cut any woody stems; it's strictly designed for deadheading and pliable green stems.

Durable yet light Sep 07, 2005

This is the 2nd pair I've owned and these little snips last. The first pair lasted 5 years and are still in use. They're used daily at the garden center where I work and are the favorite tool of all my co-workers. The snips are durable enough to trim everything from bedding plants to hanging baskets to shrubs (butterfly bushes) yet light and responsive enough to be easily handled by those of us with joint problems. The Fiskars small size makes it easy to trim out even the most densely overgrown plants and make deadheading Petunias a breeze. I've tried other snips by various manufacturers and none have worked as well as these. The others have been too bulky, too heavy, too large for delicate trims and/or too tight in the hinge to be used comfortably. Over all the Fiskars Micro-snips are the perfect tool to clean up both houseplants and garden beds.

I have stopped deadheading with my fingers! Jun 16, 2000
I love my micro tip, and I use it every day for deadheading and cutting flowers. I used to deadhead my flowers with my fingers, and get green stuff under my fingernails (ugh!). I was right when I thought this would fill a void in my garden tool collection. The tip is very sharp, and it is very comfortable. It has an easy to use lock, which is handy to have around children.

perfect for small or delicate tasks Oct 01, 2006
By Reader Some other reviewers have complained that this tool is not good enough for certain jobs, but from their descriptions, it just goes to show that you need to use the right tool for the right job. For cutting wire or pruning boughs, one would not use these snips (though I would heartily recommend the Fiskars lopper for the latter). I am constantly reaching for these snips, however, when deadheading, pruning tender plants, and taking cuttings for propagation. I want something sharp, precise, and handy for those tasks, and secateurs or pruning shears would either be too cumbersome or would not have the cutting action required. Well worth having, in this gardener's opinion.

Great for deadheading annuals and trimming marijuana Sep 08, 2010
By Gen of North Coast Gardening I'm a landscaper, so I use these snips for deadheading fussy annuals like violas and petunias.
But I used to work at a Humboldt County, CA nursery, and, um... I was probably the only person ever to buy a pair of these for legal purposes! Seriously, this is the gold standard for pot-growers who need to do trimming. What kind of trimming? Durn if I know, but I've seen them at yard sales coated with the sticky sap, and the local growers used to buy stacks of these nippers with their smelly cash, so...
If you need it for either purpose, then these are the best. I've tried other brands and didn't like them as well. Keep in mind this is for cutting thin, tiny deadheads. It's not a pruning shear, it's for very detailed deadheading or nipping of very small stems.
If you're doing a lot of delicate pruning like this, I'd also recommend picking up some of those thin Atlas Nitrile Touch gloves. Best gloves for tactile sensation while doing fine work.
