well balanced and great in the hands Oct 08, 2008

In Hawaii, we use these 'in the field' to trim Hawaii's many hiking trails. I am a thin wristed girl, and I LOVE this tool!!! It is so well balanced, light in the handle, and heavy in the blade--it just slices through the uluhe (thick fern), guava, and ginger. The zip soft cover makes it very streamlined to put in the backpack to carry around on a 10 mile hike. It far surpassed my expectations!!!

Balanced, sharp and an overall great design.
I have other, cheaper, Cold Steel machetes that are awkward to use-don't buy them

wicked tool Aug 12, 2009
By J. Wright I'm a wildland firefighter, and I use this for scouting out front of my chainsaw teams in thick brush. I can move much much faster than I could before I had this handy little "hacker". It runs through brush like a hot knife through butter. Much better than a machete.

Gerber brush thinner. May 18, 2009
By P. T. Jones I bought this for my wife. She thought it would work well in the garden. She found it is not as easy to use as she thought. It cuts some things well, but larger things she hasn't had too much luck. I tried it once and it worked quite well. If you aren't careful it will cut through about anything. I cut through my metal outside light. Sliced a large gash in it. I find I can cut about anything with it. So, I guess it is more a matter of your strength as to what it will cut. The sheath is nice and it cleans up well.

The tool for small brush Jul 18, 2009

In contrast to a regular machete, this Gerber tool is much more useful. It's easy to carry and well balanced for use. The downward curving tip offers better control on cuts, since it doesn't slide off the material like a regular machete.
