1Pin-hole leaks after 2 weeks of use  Jun 28, 2008
By Laura
I hoped to have a durable, safe-for-drinking-water hose. This one sorely disaapointed. It leaks after only 2 weeks of use. Minor kinks created pin-hole leaks.

3flat, but not FLAT  Jul 28, 2011
By L. Barker "intelligence is not necessarily an evolutionary advantage"
i bought this hose as a replacement for a FLAT hose, of the 'as seen on TV' fame. that hose was manufactured from some type of fabric, and even when the water was on, was lightweight and easy to roll over (i use a wheelchair, so these two features were extremely handy). unfortunately, altho i had pretty good luck with that hose, there were a lot of complaints about them springing leaks relatively soon after purchase, so when it came time to replace mine, i looked for something a little more durable. i thought this hose would fit the bill, already owning another from this same manufacturer.

the hose, as pictured wrapped around the holder, most certainly gave me the impression that it was of similar design to my previous hose. OOPS. wrong. This hose is flat when you RECEIVE it, and relatively flat when the water is off, but not when it is in use, which is of course what i had wanted. this hose is just as stiff and unyielding as any other non-'flat' hose. i imagine it is flat when re-wrapped on the reel, but the reel is cumbersome to use and an enormous amount of time and energy must be expended to completely wrap and unwrap all 50' before and after every use.

although it gets high marks in the durability department, i can't say i'm impressed with anything else about it. for one thing, it is marketed as being constructed of 'FDA approved liner material to ensure no impurities are imparted to drinking water', and while this is no doubt true, you'd be hard-pressed to believe it after drinking from it. it imparts a horrible chemical taste to the water. perhaps this dissipates after time, but i have not felt the need to find out.

also, it is described as 'easy to store', but this is a little generous. perhaps if you want to re-wrap it on the reel it came with, it might be easy, but don't try to wrap it on a round hose holder. it does not take kindly to changing shape and you will have a fight on your hands. for me, trying to man-handle it from a wheelchair is just about impossible.

don't be misled into thinking that you can use this hose while any part of it remains on the reel. think about it a minute and you'll discover why...obviously no water can flow through it while any crimps or bends exist (whether while still on the reel or after it has been de-reeled). this is perhaps the best argument for throwing away the reel and using a standard round holder. until the hose unlearns it's oblong shape, you will be forever trudging up and down its 50 foot length to unkink it. which gets old VERY fast. (once you get it 'trained' into a more circular shape, the kink problems will naturally disappear.)

if you're looking for a heavy duty hose, this should fit the bill. if you're looking for an easy to handle, cooperative hose, perhaps you should look elsewhere.

4Very Good Product  Oct 12, 2011
By Keith M. Passaur "Touch User"
I wanted a flat hose for camping that was on a spool, the kind that has multiple tubes in it that has an easy wind up handle but all the reviews were poor on them so I went with this. It has worked out very well, for some reason everytime you wind it up it comes out so you can connect the ends together which is nice because then it does not drip water when you store it. The hose to faucet end has one of those nice thumb things that make it easy to tighten so it does not leak at the faucet. It has never kinked on me and I don't understand why, as all hoses seem to, but this one has not done it yet. About the only negative thing about it is that that the outside is not smooth so it is a little harder to clean off before storage. All it all if you have tried other hoses, I cannot imagine you being disapointed in this one.

5A Little Tricky to Use!  Jul 25, 2011
By robertmg
The first time I used this hose was a little tricky! Unpacked the hose and lay it out from my RV to water source across the road. I so learned that the hose can not have any bends it otherwise the water will not flow through it. I believe that this is because it is designed to lay flat when not under pressure. Once the hose was stretched out it worked fine! Good product! [...]

4Decent value  May 14, 2010
By Monkeyman
Overall satisfied. You do need to get the kinks out each time before turning the water on otherwise no water will flow thru it. White color of hose gets dirty really quick. This is the most durable collaspible hose I have found so I am happy with it.
