Needs a brace Jun 22, 2011
By reg I had purchased a 2-way connector and was quite pleased with it. I really needed at least one more outlet, so I purchased the 4-way. No where in the product description or the reviews did I see mention of a metal brace that connects to the device and then screws to the wall. This is a very heavy product, but I do not have the desire or means to install the brace. I also do not see where the use of it is optional on the packaging. I would assume that if it is not used, I could risk damage to my faucet which would be a huge repair if it happens.
ETA: I was just looking at the packaging closer and found the following information,"Brace must be installed to avoid damage to the hose faucet. Refrain from putting pressure on the 4-Way by tugging at the hose. WARNING: This product contains one or more chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm, Wash hands after handling." The last sentence was in bold print. I also noticed a Made in China statement.

This badly designed product will not last 1 season. Jun 23, 2009
By G. Sherriff I have purchased 2 of these at Lowe's and had to return both because both broke at the plastic sleeve over the threaded brass nut. Since both broke at exactly the same place and another review here mentions that that reviewer had 3 broke at exactly the same place where mine broke, I see a confirmation of my observation that Gilmour has bad engineers working for it. So, I stay away from any Gilmour products and would not recommend anyone buying them.
Conclusion: Stay away from this badly designed manifold.

Excellent product Jul 06, 2009
By W. C. LITTLE Very sturdy construction. One suggestion is to add plumber's tape to the threads to guard against any leaking at the hose connections. Very pleased and would highly recommend.
Failed in the 2nd Season May 13, 2012
By Greg Stuart I'm one of those people that will pay just about anything for a product that works and so when I saw this was brass I believe it had to be the best to work year after year. First year, great. Second year it has established a leak in outlet for reasons I can't even find. Regardless it leaks. On to the next one.
Beware -- They sell 2 brass models -- 1 good 1 bad Apr 04, 2012
By coleridge They market one excellent 4 way. I would give it a oood review -- EXCEPT they make another flimsier one that will break with use and probably accounts for the bad reviews this sometimes gete,
I mark it down to a one -- because I object to misleading practices.
This one is a 44GF
The other is a 43GF and the threaded area will break off easily and quite neatly.
Two things to look for in a good two-way or four way.
The threaded section fits snugly to the tube. In a bad one, the tube is built up at the end to fit with the threaded area.
With no water pressure, look inside it to the ball valve. When it is closed you should nothing but brass and the silver-colored ball.
If you see anything -- don't buy it. It will leak and that ball is a potential missile.
