2Not really meant to add a fourth section to 20-18  Apr 17, 2011

I have a 20-18, 18' long Gilmour pole saw. I needed to reach a little higher, so I bought the Gilmour Extension Pole 103 to add a fourth section. However it usefulness is limited. With the fourth section the pole saw it deflects several feet under it's own weight and is totally uncontrolable. It is only useable if the pole is within 20 degrees of vertical. To use it I have to assemble the first three sections, position the saw where I want to cut, hold it near vertical then add in the fourth section. Totally impractical for continuous use. The Gilmour 20-18 pole saw is great, rated it a 5 star. I use it all the time. I just pushed it too far by adding the fourth section.
