Better than the Fiskars Apr 16, 2012
By Baddspellr I own both the Hydrofarm HGPP400 and the Fiskars version. I bought both to alternate to reduce fatigue when doing a lot of trimming, now my girlfriend and I fight over the Hydrofarms. This is more of a compare and contrast between the 2. First off the Hydros have a nicer grip and just feel sturdier and better constructed than the Fiskers. The Hydros however are slightly heavier and a hair larger than the Fiskers which I personally like. Probably most importantly, I can trim 5 times as much with the Hydros before they get gunked up with pollen. But when they do, they're much easier to clean than the Fiskars because the blades are smoother and wider and seem to have some kind of coating on them. After mutiple cleanings of both the Hydros have retained their smooth action whereas the Fiskars feel gritty and have to be constantly oiled just to get them to spring back all the way.
In conclusion:
Fiskars snips came out a long time ago, produced a good product and had no competition for a long time. But that product has been vastly improved upon by Hydofarm. Hydrofarm also has a blue handled snip with a slightly curved blade that I just got and am really looking forward to using!
Very good sissors Oct 17, 2011

These Hydrofarm Straight/curved pruners are excellent tools. I was vacillating between these and the comparable Fiskars & the blade lock was a consideration. These scissors, although they have great reach, have blunted tips to lessen unintentional stabs. With the spring return, padded handles, stainless steel blades, sheath paired with their excellent construction at their reasonable price are a very good deal. You may consider if the straight or curved have the more comfortable grasp for your use. Happy trimming

the best pruners on the market bar none. i've tried others and most pinched when pruning, these dont. spring helps a lot to stop fatigue from having to reopen without a spring. sharp, hasn't dulled in a year.
