"constructed of solid steel"??? Jul 24, 2008
By Daniel J. Gilley I just received these and I've not used my Mantis in a weedy area yet so I can't comment on how well they work.
But I am pretty unhappy about the false advertising. The description of this item specifically says "Constructed of solid steel for strength and durability." But this is a lie. These parts are constructed of relatively cheap, light weight plastic. I hope they don't need to be strong or durable to survive! It really bothers me when companies make "mistakes" like this that favor themselves and hurt their customers.
They may or may not work, but they are definitely overpriced considering they are small, simple pieces of cheap plastic and Mantis is charging quite a bit for them.

Dont Buy tiller without these Mar 23, 2008
By Michael A. Murray The weed reducers are essential to a pleasant tilling experience.
They reduce or eliminate the tangling on the inner tines.

Worth every penny !!!! Mar 28, 2008

If you buy the Mantis, buy the weed reducers as well. You will never be sorry for either. I had netting from sod planted a few years back. What a nasty mess but the weed reducers worked. I wouldn't use my Mantis without them.

They do work for reducing the weeds May 15, 2008
By NancyFancy

These are expensive little pieces of plastic, but they did keep the weeds from clogging up to badly. I did have to stop the unit once to remove the weeds, but it was nothing like the mess that builds up when the reducers are not installed. I just wonder why they cost $10. They are just small rolls of plastic, they should be included with the unit.

Mantis tiller weed reducers May 27, 2008
By James Ortenzio
"Francis Marion"
These provide longer use of the tiller and prevent tine restrictions due to root entwinement. Most useful on infrequently tilled or new gardens. It is an attachment that should have been included by Mantis as a component of my original purchase since it is both effective and necessary.
