Lake Weed Cutter Rake Sep 13, 2009
By Albert Beijer I purchased this after watching a neighbor fail with another product. This rake stays sharp due to serrated edge and cuts lake weeds at their base. The bonus is that it also pulls many weeds out by the roots, thus preventing re growth. The proof is in the absence of plant growth at my bulkhead as compared to my neighbors. The rake is well built and very solid when in use. The extended handle allows for a greater reach and leverage. A great product.

Great product May 13, 2009

This was essential in helping to chop down some overgrown cat-tails in my pond. It was even more useful in combination with the weed rake.

Have a plan for your lake weeds! Sep 22, 2010

We live on a 6 acre pond and the edges of the shoreline every year are coated with lily pads. The lily pads extend from the shoreline about 20-30 feet and I was looking for a way to get rid of them without chemicals. Now mind you, I am not trying to obliterate all of them because I do know some of the fish like the shady shallow waters. But just trying to clear enough in front of our patio area and trying to make a beach area too. I was quite impressed as it cut thru the weeds like butter and I pulled whatever I could to shore. I worked on the floor bed near the shore line also - trying to obliterate the root system. After I let the "dust" settle from stirring everything up I had clear water that I could see the bottom! However, after letting my lily pads dry up on the shore line 2 days letter there was a horrible dead fish smell coming from them! SO today I am going to have to rake them up- wich I was going to anyhow and burn them. Then, I noticed some "mud" islands floating up wich I was reading on another website you have to go and scoop out with a net. So it is not cut and dry as just raking out those weeds, it is a multi step process, although I am having fun with it, but a little more work than anticipated. And I don't know what the long term is on this, as far as maintenance because you really aren't pulling out most of the weeds roots, I found out when I actually got one and it looked like an alien. So it may be a once a month thing just to make it look pretty in the summer. That is to be determined.

Get 'er done! Aug 27, 2010
By D. Wilson Getting rid of pond weeds is a thankless job. I did it "by hand" for years... getting in my pond, plucking and scooping everything out. It took days and was not much fun, to say the least. Finally sprang for the Midwest Rake and I consider it money well spent. It's still hard work but clean up goes much quicker. Definitely a worthwhile purchase.
