Great time saver relieves the monotony of picking up leaves Mar 17, 2009
By Aurelio T. McKewon There are two reasons the lawn claws are great for bagging or shredding leaves:
1. You can pick up 3 or 4 times the volume of leaves that you can gather with your gloved hands alone, whether bagging leaves or dumping them in the hopper of a leaf shredder.
2. When you have bagged or shredded all but the remnants of a pile of leaves, you can use one claw to "rake" the remnants onto the other claw, rather than dropping the claws and going to fetch a long-handled rake to finish up.
Also, I find that if you grip the claws back edges rather than putting your hands through the straps, you do not need to bend over so far when picking up leaves, much easier on your back.
In fact, I would recommend that the manufacturer produce a senior version with short foot-long handles for older people who have lost flexibility over the years.

These are great! Nov 15, 2006

I have very prolific pine trees. I made short work (5 garbage bags) of picking the needles up this year. Love these!

Make the job go faster May 12, 2007
By K. Verhagen These leaf scoops really make the job of bagging leaves go much faster. Definitely worth the money. Best of all, there's no moving parts to break or replace!

Useful tools at a good price! Jul 27, 2009
By asg I bought these based on: 1) the reasonable price and, 2) the positive reviews from other customers. I really wasn't sure just how helpful the lawn claws would be but I am happy to report that they really do make picking up leaves go faster. I tried them yesterday; in no time at all, I filled and emptied the garden container 3 times. Unfortunately, I had to remove the claws to empty the container and that slowed me down. I may need to invest in more containers so I can get more leaves and clippings picked up before I have to stop and empty them. I noticed that mine have velcro on the elastic strap so they are adjustable (and maybe removable for washing) but unless you have really large or small hands, most average (garden-gloved) hands should fit snugly but comfortably. The plastic construction seems to be flexible but I wouldn't put too much weight or pressure on them. The only downside I noticed is having to bend over to pick up the clippings, as there are no handles on the claws. Older people or those with back issues might have some problems using them. Otherwise, I find the lawn claws to be good garden tools, which I think I will use quite often, and would definitely recommend them to others.
