3pretty good  Mar 27, 2007
By Faye Ameredes
It was a little bit hard to put together - screws were really tight. When you lift the lids, they get "hung up" and do not set back down properly. It requires a lot of adjusting to get the lids to set down, so I just try not to open the lids very far which means struggling to reach in to care for the plants.

4Well engineered frame.  Apr 03, 2011
By Stanley J. Laskos, Jr.
I was at first taken back by the apparent thinness of the plastic sides and top. But they were molded plastic and the ribbing made them more roomy and durable.
The edge, top, and side framing is thick extruded aluminum, someone did some real good engineering in the simple but strong assembly of these items. You do need one Philips screwdriver with a good tip and hefty handle to make the assembly a breeze. Just follow the pictures carefully. All the parts are clearly labeled themselves and in the assembly instructions. The large frame and sides can be fully assembled inside and easily carried outdoors by one person, then the 2 tops slipped into place. With all the other fine design, the way the two top pieces "hinge" to the peak "beam" was surprizingly tempermental when lifting them higher than parallel. The recessed molding of the two lids gives you more height than you would imagine by looking at the spec's and picture. There are anchor holes in the bottom of each corner "foot" that allow you to pin this to the ground if you wish. After years of pounding together a homemade frame from plastic sheet and wood one by ones.... I'm very happy with this cold frame.
