5smaller version for some older models available at pkgrills.com  Dec 06, 2010
By Jonnelle "Student of Chinese"
Some older models of the Portable Kitchen grill are smaller. There is a replacement hinged grid and charcoal grate available for them at pkgrills.com. The smaller model grid is 18 inches long instead of 21 inches long so if you have an older model you need to measure before ordering. The website pkgrills.com charges $45 but they don't have free shipping so if you need the 21 inch, you can order this one with the supersaver shipping and it will be cheaper than pkgrills.com. The web site also gives locations of retailers that carry the Portable Kitchen Grill line.

3Cooking Grid Doesn't Fit My Cooker  Sep 18, 2008
By Lee
I realize that PK has made several different models since I bought mine in 1965 but be aware that the cooking grid does not fit all the older models. I could find no model number on my casting, so took a chance and it didn't fit. I used a bolt cutter to modify it slightly and it works acceptably now. The charcoal grate fit perfectly. Too much hassle to return it.

2Portable Kitchen replacement grid and grate  May 07, 2007
By hogjaw "hogjaw"
The grate fits and works nicely. The Hinged Cooking Grid did not fit inside the grill the way it should have, and prevented the lid from closing properly. I had to take a bolt cutter to it to make it fit better. Now it doesn't look like a professionally fitted grate.

5Excellent fit  Sep 16, 2004
By Michael Jost
I have one of the original Portable Kitchens made in the 1950's. I purchased it at a garage sale in 1980 and have used it regularly since then. This is the second set of grid and gate that I have purchased. It fits perfectly into my old Portable Kitchen. Both the grid and grate are high quality units and have extended the life of this approximately 50 year old Portable Kitchen yet another few years. This time I also purchased a cover for the Portable Kitchen which will make this set last even longer than before.

4Nice to get a replacement, but a bit oversized.  Apr 26, 2012
By wesleach
I ordered this to replace the grill grate in an older grill but discovered that it is just slightly larger than the one it replaced and didn't fit down into the bottom half of the clam shell. Still it's stable and works well enough to extend the life of my grill for many more years so I'm not totally disappointed. At least it's larger rather than smaller.
