I am please with my initial use Jun 29, 2008

This trimmer is practically ready to use right out of the box.
1) Slit open one end of the box to roll out the machine 2) Flip up handle and tighten the lock knob 3) Add oil (included) 4) Add fuel (not included) 5) Connect spark plug wire to spark plug 6) Set throttle, pump primer bulb, pull on starter handle
Mine fired up on the 2nd pull. The trimmer head will not turn until the control bar is held against the handle. I am surprised how quiet the machine is! Buy plenty of line. Mine came with line installed and one pair of replacements. I was getting aggressive and trashed my line in 15 minutes. This is lighter and easier to maneuver than a normal lawn mower. I wanted a self-propelled model but am happy I didn't waste the extra $$ because this one is plenty easy to push & pull around. My property is on a slight slope so this is important to me. I was aggressively cutting 3' tall weeds and some got wrapped up in the head stalling the motor, however, it is very easy to remove the tangle - nothing like fighting the weed-snarls I get in my hand-held string trimmer.
I am very impressed with this machine. Based upon my experience with other power equipment I expect this will last a very long time.

Not so pleased Mar 19, 2009
By ruiman My unit came out of the box with visible problems with the axle and wheels. Also leaking oil on startup. The toll free number on the manual for tech support is operated by Sears. They told me they could not help since I bought from Amazon. After 3-4 phone calls I determined that Poulan is made by Husqvarna. The number to call is 800-633-3522. You need to insist that this is their product and they will figure it out based on the model number. You can not return this item. What a mess.

An impressive,easy-handling, yet powerful tool Aug 27, 2008

The Poulan Pro 22-Inch Cut Wheeled String Trimmer is an excellent tool for taking down tall grass, tall weeds, and medium brush. Super-easy set-up. Added oil, added gas, adjusted handle height for comfort, pulled once and it fired up! I was worried that I didn't purchase the extra line offered, but after about 4 - 5 hours and 2 acres of cutting an overgrown field; I'm still on the original line it came loaded with - and it doesn't need a change yet!. Maneuverability is great, even my wife (a foot shorter and a hundred lbs lighter than me) had fun smashing through the field. As for power, take caution when you're near anything you don't want cut down. I accidentally cut a reflector mounted on a quarter inch wooden stem to pieces. Note: Make sure you wear eye protection, as pieces of whatever you're cutting does fly around and hit your face. We are very happy with our purchase - the right tool makes a difficult job very easy.

Not for weaklings. Aug 26, 2009
By Sonrisa I am a 57 year old female who has to do yard work myself for reasons I won't go into in this forum. I just can't handle a portable string trimmer due to the heavy weight and I thought, "Wow, this is just what I need! A weedeater with wheels!". NOT! This is more of a LAWN MOWER than a trimmer/edger. It cuts a wide path and you have to tilt it somewhat to do any edging. I dig a lot of holes unintentionally. For trimming close to a wall, you can't just go straight down a wall because the string doesn't reach that far. Instead, you just have to keep going back and forth toward the wall, back and forth, back and forth.... Furthermore, (if you use it as a lawn mower) it does not have any wheels on the front end so you're constantly having to pick it up and set it back down, etc., so it's not much good for cutting in a straight line either. Nor is it much good for cutting on an uneven slope because it is pretty heavy and tends to want to turn over. The only good thing I can say about it is that it's easy to start and the string cuts even tough stuff pretty well. It's just too heavy and poorly designed for the purpose for which I thought it was intended. (Just what WAS it intended for?) I'm sorry that I spent this much money before I found that out. Try it before you buy it.
