Need to upgrade or refurbish the old Weber? Start here! Dec 03, 2009

I have owned my Weber since 1993. It was from Sears but is basically a Genesis 1000. The only replacement parts that I have purchased since that time is two igniters and the one that fits is the #7509 as found with this link Weber 7509 Igniter Kit. After years of dealing with the quick gas disconnect for the Weber Genesis 1000, it was time to switch to the more traditional propane cylinder. Why? MY OPD valve in my original tank somehow became stuck after a recent fill.
This adapter is nice and is the same length as the original regulator hose. Simple to remove the old hose and install the new one. I used some soft-set, slow drying compound sealant to lubricate and protects threaded piece and not allow any gas leaks. Worked very well and easily found at Lowes or Home Depot.
The easy on/off is great since no wrench is needed and this is as good as the quick release tanks.
I would also recommend looking at the replacement burner set. It can be had on Amazon by looking at this link Weber 7506 Stainless-Steel Burner Tube Set but I was able to find the same set via a simple search for only $11.99 (a savings of over $30). Actually, there are lots of old Weber parts out there if you just look. Finding the proper Weber part number is key.
My "do it yourself" grill makeover will cost me only $45 total and the grill will probably run for another 15 years with no issues. Good luck! Thanks for reading!

By D. Enos Works great - switched from the old quick-release to the new design (which seems to be the only thing they carry nowadays!)

Hose and Regulator Kit Makes Connections Much Easier Jul 18, 2007
By Chester M. Lee

This regulator kit eliminates the hassle of transferring the adapter from one tank to another tank. You can also get rid of the black plastic plug which is needed to unscrew the adapter from one tank to another. Quick connects and disconnects are possible by replacing the old hose and regulator with this kit. It is easily installed, and the benefit is immediate.

Weber Genesis 1000 Rejuvenation Jun 12, 2011

There are other regulators for sale claiming to be for the Genesis 1000 but they don't have the needed 1/8" NPT male fitting. If you buy price only, the lower priced items have the 21" hose but not the 1/8" NPT you need to connect to the female fitting on the burner manifold.

Easy install, great product!! Jan 05, 2010
By G. Galef Installed on a 900LP model purchased back in 1998. My grill initially came with a quick-connect regulator hose, and I finally decided to switch after the old tanks with quick-connects were getting to the age where places no longer were permitted to fill them.
This regulator installs very quickly and easily, and works just like it always has for me. Great product!
