I wish I'd looked at these reviews before flushing $ down the toilet. Just to emphasize again, the cable doesn't actually fit the kindle.

It's a good quality cable, however I bought it for my kindle 2, which it does not fit.
Thanks amazon for not only making the kindle 2 use some absurdly rare usb connector, but also failing to include a usb cable with the kindle.

Cable DOES NOT FIT the Kindle 2. Kindle 2 does not come with a cable.
This is an ordinary USB cable that would fit an ordinary tetrahedronal USB inlet.
We need the mini USB and this isn't it.

Despite being advertised as fitting the Kindle Fire, it does not fit. It isn't worth the postage to ship it back.

This is the wrong type of USB connector for the Kindle and Kindle Fire. Do not buy it for that purpose.
